I wanted to separate the “brochure side” i.e. the fixed pages like: where we are and when we meet etc.,  from the changing pages or posts which are things like who is preaching or teaching this Sunday or what is the prayer focus this week.
I needed to look for a site template or theme in [...]

Ever since the early days of Cambray’s Site there was a commitment to publish the what’s in in this month on Sunday. Early versions of the site used Frontpage to publish it via a specified dial up number requiring the use of the same telephone number. This meant that it could only be updated by [...]

Hey the blogging link phenomena and google . Its a bit scary.
I started this blog to put on the modern equivalent of paper some of the practical challenges about running a church website from an an intersted non-professional. Now Google search for “example of good church website design ” gives a link to David’s blog [...]

After my visit to see John Smuts ( Minister of Cambray) about the church website one of by concerns is about the slowness of www.cambray.org to load. The front page is just full of links and text, two small (in file size ) pictures of the ministers and nothing else. It seems to be taking 15 to 20 seconds [...]

I was talking with a friend today Greta C., who was back visiting friends in Cheltenham from the time when she lived here. She said something like is there any point updating a website that only has 10 to 12 visits a day on average ? Good point I thought, is there ?

I added the code for a favicon to cambray.org in early September 2006 to the template I currently [...]

Encouraging all people to become fully committed followers of Jesus Christ.

We looked at practical people issues when we have a variety of contributors to the site,
Teamwork [...]

Static Front Page ( This is one way of getting WordPress on a server to have a index page more like a standard website ) It is useful for a Church Website.
I used a Plugin called Pages Advanced which incorporated Plugin:Search Pages and Posts and a Plugin called Pages Restriction. The link to the plugin is [...]

I have just come across this article at churchblogger on wordpress.com. It says just the sort of things I am trying to do with www.cambray.org. I will add it blog to my blogroll.
I believe we need to make our church websites accessible to all , easy to navigate and understand, without the dumbing [...]
